Tamsin Mahalingham

Tamsin Mahalingham My journey within the mental health space developed from a place of lived experience and peer support when I was still in school. My interest in psychology developed further when I was considering career options that would suit my personal skills and aptitudes. Since then, my passion and skills have only grown through further education and training, as well as engaging with various volunteering and advocacy roles. Much of my work up to this point has involved working with and advocating for young people and the LGBTQ+ community in the mental health space.

Over time I have developed a practice and style that is person centred and involves engaging with each person as an individual and the expert of their own experiences. I have found that this is the best way to develop a strong, productive, and meaningful therapeutic relationship.

I am also currently pursuing a PhD, in which I am conducting research looking at how social media influences mental health (both positively and negatively). With a specific focus on what this means for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
